ABSTRACT

This study explores how China's education responses to COVID-19 from a perspective of policy analysis. Specifically, it involves building an educational policy system for COVID-19 to examine educational governance framework, school management and teaching, policies for teachers during the epidemic. The education policy during the epidemic has achieved positive results. Those results aim to ensure the physical and mental health of teachers and students, ensure the supply of epidemic prevention materials and educational resources, ensure the quality of students' learning, and enhance the application ability of teachers' teaching technology. The process of policy changes and effects of policy implementation have been examined to analyze how China's education responses to COVID-19. The characteristics and experience of China's education policy in response to the epidemic concentrate on forming a governance system under the centralized and unified leadership of the Communist Party of China, building a pattern in which families and schools cooperate closely to promote the smooth development of education and teaching, transforming from an emergency substitute during the crisis into an important motivation to promote the transformation of education paradigm, and paying great attention to remote and poor areas and disadvantaged student groups.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveGrowing evidence shows that online mental health interventions for university students are a cost-effective means for addressing mental health problems among university students. This study presents data on the numbers and characteristics of students who engaged in an online mental health promotion intervention called YOLO in the context of a university-wide rollout of the program before and after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.MethodsParticipants completed a questionnaire assessing socio-demographics and mental health (wellbeing and distress). A total of 240 students accessed the program over a 12-month period and of these, 164 provided reliable data.ResultsYOLO was accessed by students representing diverse socio-demographics including domestic vs. international student status, degree level, faculty, ethnicity, and age, although there was an over-representation of females (77.2%). Students who accessed YOLO pre-COVID-19 did not substantially differ across most mental health dimensions from those who accessed it during-COVID-19, although more students reported mild-moderate anxiety symptoms during-COVID than pre-COVID-19. The only socio-demographics significantly associated with mental health were age and degree level. Younger age was related to higher anxiety and 3(rd) and 4(th) year undergraduate students reported poorer mental health comparative to students in other years. Additionally, a higher proportion of these students accessed YOLO during-COVID-19 than at pre-COVID-19.ConclusionThe present data along with findings from other studies that have evaluated YOLO, suggest that online mental health promotion programs that do not require in-person contact are an important and necessary resource for all university students.

ABSTRACT

Healthy lifestyle promotion from the perspective of state policy, journalism, healthcare, sociology, and psychology was analyzed. The objective of the study was to analyze changes in the financial and agitation state policy aimed at increasing the motivational activity of citizens of the Russian Federation towards a healthy lifestyle (HLS) in the Soviet era and at the post-Soviet stage and assess the effectiveness of these measures. The effectiveness of the Soviet propaganda of healthy lifestyles among the population was evaluated. Crisis phenomena in public health, low persuasiveness of the media presentation of the healthy lifestyle value, the COVID-19 pandemic, difficulties in implementing corporate health promotion programs in the workplace at individual en-terprises, and ignoring gender stereotypes in attitudes to health are the reasons that contribute to the adherence of Russian workers to unhealthy behaviors, that cause an increase in the incidence of chronic non-communicable diseases. The historical aspect of changes in state policy for health promotion made it possible to determine the tasks in developing health-saving programs.Copyright © 2023, Media Sphera Publishing Group. ABSTRACT

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been admitted by WHO as a global pandemic. The successes-ness in controlling COVID-19 is extremely affected by the knowledge and perception of society. Apothecary students must be competent in carrying out the health promotion effort;one of them is through education. Discovering the impact of education from apothecary students in improving knowledge and perception of the society in controlling COVID-19. One group Quasi-experimental design without a control group (n=102). The data was conducted in March-April 2020 using a validated questionnaire containing the respondents' demographic, knowledge, and perception of COVID-19. This research is 18 years old, does not work as a health worker/medical personnel, domiciled in Yogyakarta, and fills up the pre-test and post-test questionnaire. The data were analyzed descriptively and used the Wilcoxon test (p<0.05) as the statistic test. Most respondents are 52.9% women, 34.31% aged 36-45, with 52.94% having a high school education level. The survey result shows that 71.57% of respondents admit that they know about COVID-19 from television and 2.43% from social media. The answer distribution of questioner on knowledge and perception shows improvements in the pre-test and post-test scores. The Wilcoxon test result, the influence of education on respondents' knowledge and perception, shows the significance of p value=0.000 with the outcome of pre-test and post-test scores with the good category are 67.65% and 5.29%. The presentation of education from apothecary students significantly influences society's knowledge and perception of controlling COVID-19.

ABSTRACT

Aim and Objectives: 1. Knowledge of the COVID 19 vaccine among medical students in a tertiary care hospital. 2. Attitude towards the COVID 19 vaccine among medical students in a tertiary care hospital. Methodology: Study Location: Tertiary care hospital facility in Visakhapatnam. Study Period: From August to September 2022 will be the study period. Study Sample Size: 316. Statistics: Data are gathered using google forms, and the spread document is error-checked. Calculations are made for descriptive numbers like frequency and percentage. Result(s): Sociodemographic details about the participants-There were 316 competitors in total. Men make up about 34.5% (n=109) of the members. Approximately 65.5% of the members (n=207) are female. About 40.5% (n=128) of the participants are first-year students, 39.25% (n=124) are second-year students, 14.5% (n=46) are third-year students, and 5.7% (n=18) are fourth-year students. Conclusion(s): The majority of medical students' responses to this research show moderate knowledge of and a favorable outlook towards the COVID 19 vaccine. It also demonstrates that medical students are more knowledgeable and have more optimistic dispositions. Our findings can be applied to interventions that promote public health, particularly for medical students. To dispel the medical students' fears and misunderstandings regarding the COVID 19 vaccine, there should be seminars, lectures, and instructional videos that are specifically aimed at them.Copyright © 2023, Dr. Yashwant Research Labs Pvt. ABSTRACT

Physical inactivity is becoming an important threat to public health in today's society. The COVID-19 pandemic has also reduced physical activity (PA) levels given all the restrictions imposed worldwide. In this work, physical activity interventions supported by mobile devices and relying on control engineering principles were proposed. The model was constructed relying on previous studies that consider a fluid analogy of Social Cognitive Theory (SCT), which is a psychological theory that describes how people acquire and maintain certain behaviors, including health-promoting behaviors, through the interplay of personal, environmental, and behavioral factors. The obtained model was validated using secondary data (collected earlier) from a real intervention with a group of male subjects in Great Britain. The present model was extended with new technology for a better understanding of behavior change interventions. This involved the use of applications, such as phone-based ecological momentary assessments, to collect behavioral data and the inclusion of simulations with logical reward conditions for reaching the behavioral threshold. A goal of 10,000 steps per day is recommended due to the significant link observed between higher daily step counts and lower mortality risk. The intervention was designed using a Model Predictive Control (MPC) algorithm configured to obtain a desired performance. The system was tested and validated using simulation scenarios that resemble different situations that may occur in a real setting.

Background: The abrupt change to distance learning due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic imposed great challenges on tertiary education. While aspects such as mental health and stress exposure have been investigated, little research has been conducted regarding the impact of distance learning on students' health behaviors. This article investigates the influence of the teaching mode (in situ vs. distance) on students' physical activity and nutrition. Methods: A retrospective questionnaire study was conducted comparing two student cohorts who had attended the same course in two subsequent years. One group had participated in situ before the pandemic, while the other one participated via distance learning during the pandemic. A total of 79 questionnaires were submitted by students belonging to the latter and 51 by students of the former group. Data were compared regarding differences in students' health behavior. Results: Findings indicate that online classes facilitated the pursuit of physical activities and healthy eating. Students with in situ teaching felt restricted in their exercise activities. Findings for healthy nutrition are similar. Conclusion: Students in distance learning found themselves in a more flexible learning environment and in a position to allocate their time resources more autonomously. ABSTRACT

The goal of this research was to examine U.S.-based librarians' history of training on public health topics and their comfort delivering adolescent-focused public health interventions. A total of 269 library staff from 37 states completed a brief online survey. Eighty-four percent of respondents stated that their library had hosted public health programs for youth ages 10–17. Eighty-five percent reported they would be interested or very interested in facilitating an intervention focused on youth (ages 10–17). Ninety-eight percent of participants reported receiving training on at least one public health topic. The most common trainings reported were related to infectious diseases, including COVID (82.9%) and adolescent health and development (78.4%). Most participants were comfortable discussing public health topics, such as sexual and reproductive health (83.6%), adolescent health and development (82.5%), substance use (81.4%), and infectious diseases (81%). Having learned about the topic on their own and having had experience related to the topic were the most common reasons stated for feeling comfortable discussing public health topics with youth. These findings suggest that librarians are interested in and comfortable enough to serve as resources for health promotion among adolescents when adequately trained. ABSTRACT

Health promotion messages, especially in pandemics like COVID-19 with its massive global health, social and economic impacts, are designed to reduce risky behaviour and emphasise community engagement in its mitigation. The social media in Nigeria are a powerful channel of communication, especially among younger people, whose actions may determine the success or otherwise of the proposed health interventions. In this study, the health belief model is used to analyse the contents, appeals and strategies employed in selected COVID-19 messages in Nigerian social media. Recommendations are given on how message developers can use knowledge of the receivers' cultural, social and political contexts to develop effective messages. ABSTRACT

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease is a global pandemic infectious disease caused by a novel coronavirus, which affects all age groups with a higher incidence in the geriatric population and people with chronic diseases. The outbreak of the virus is a serious public health challenge including to nurses at the various health care facilities around the world. The outbreak of the coronavirus has been a huge threat to nursing and nursing care globally. Nurses are experiencing a high level of daily emotional stress in their activities in preventing disease infections, promoting health, and saving lives. Many nurses have lost their lives to the deadly disease in their fight to save their patients, many feel stressed and burnout, and many feeling discouraged because of the protracted effects of the disease. The psychological health of the nurses as frontline health care workers should be safeguarded owing to their crucial roles in mitigating disease pandemics. Thus, adequate training of nurses would better equip them with the necessary information regarding the preventive measures, and management approaches to foster the mitigation of the disease, mitigate the disease burden on healthcare facilities, and enhance the recovery rate of the infected populations. Andfurther better prepare nurses on prioritizing personal psychological health.

ABSTRACT

Purpose: To identify motivational determinants explaining Physical Education teachers' behaviors promoting students' physical activity (PA) amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: Nine hundred thirty-one Italian and French teachers completed a questionnaire assessing motivational determinants (self-determined motivation, self-efficacy, perceived ease and usefulness toward digital technologies, engagement at work), their intention and behaviors promoting PA, in reference to before and during the pandemic. Path analyses tested the associations of changes in motivational determinants with changes in intention and behaviors. Results: Increases in autonomous, controlled motivation, self-efficacy, and perceived usefulness toward digital technologies, and a decrease in amotivation were associated with an increase in the intention to promote PA. In turn, an increase in intention, but also in self-efficacy, autonomous motivation, and perceived usefulness toward digital technologies were paired with an increase in behaviors promoting PA. Conclusion: Implications regarding the commitment of Physical Education teachers to challenging pedagogical situations, such as promoting PA amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, are discussed.

Background: Companies had to find quick solutions for continuing to work due to the pandemic in spring 2020. However, working conditions at home (teleworking) do not always comply with the basic principles and quality criteria of workplace health promotion (WHP). Objectives: How strongly is the approach of health-promoting telework (working at home) established in companies and what influences the strategic anchoring and the use of supporting materials? Materials and methods: Theoretically derived hypotheses were operationalised and 1858 Austrian companies were invited to participate in an online survey. The sample (n = 192) represents a broad mix of company sizes, sectors and regions. Results: Workplaces vary widely in their intention to implement health-promoting telework in the future. A part can be explained by multivariate path models, with behavioural control and social norms playing a central role. The former is determined by the degree of preparation for telework and its implementation in the company. In particular, teleworking culture, in addition to teleworking readiness, is shown to be responsible for the strength of social norms towards its implementation. Conclusions: Teleworking has so far received too little attention in the sense of holistic WHP. Such an implementation strongly depends on the health-promoting corporate structures and processes, the culture, and the decision-makers' scope for action. Companies are recommended to follow the concept of capacity building in order to build up competencies and knowledge and to enable appropriate measures.

ABSTRACT

Objectives: Self-perceptions of aging (SPA) have been shown to influence healthcare-seeking behaviors among middle-aged and older adults. Negative SPA may intensify the COVID-19 pandemic-related healthcare disruptions in this population. Therefore, this study seeks to evaluate the association between SPA and care deferrals among community-dwelling adults aged >=50 years in the US during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method(s): A cross-sectional study of the eligible sample was conducted using data from the 2020 wave of the Health and Retirement Study. SPA score was measured using a validated eight-item instrument with higher scores indicating negative SPA. The association between SPA and care deferrals during the COVID-19 pandemic was assessed using multivariable logistic regression adjusted for respondents' sociodemographic and clinical characteristics, past COVID-19-related experiences, and COVID-19 worry. Result(s): The final sample consisted of 4,153 community-dwelling adults aged >=50 years. 30% reported care deferrals during the COVID-19 pandemic. Among respondents who deferred care, the majority were aged 50-64 years (46.6%), females (65.4%), and White (64.5%). Most commonly reported care deferrals were dental appointments (74.5%) and physician visits (56.5%). Care deferrals were mainly due to clinic/office rescheduling or cancelling appointments (57.5%), respondent deciding the care could wait (33.8%), and COVID-19 fear (21.8%). Respondents reporting care deferrals reported higher mean SPA scores, indicating negative aging attitudes, compared those who did not defer care (Mean (SD): 3.24 (1.02) vs. 3.05 (1.04), p<0.001). After accounting for covariates, higher SPA scores were associated with significantly higher odds of care deferrals (aOR: 1.20, 95% CI: 1.11 - 1.30, p<0.001). Conclusion(s): This study found that negative SPA were associated with care deferrals during the COVID-19 pandemic among community-dwelling adults aged >=50 years. As healthcare delivery rebounds to pre-pandemic levels, the role of SPA in healthcare-seeking behaviors should be recognized. Health promotion efforts may target positive aging attitudes to encourage timely and proactive use of healthcare.Copyright © 2023

ABSTRACT

Background: The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the constant transformation of the SARS-COV-2 virus form, exposure to substantial psychosocial stress, environmental change, and isolation have led to the inference that the overall population's mental health could be affected, resulting in an increase in cases of psychosis. Objective(s): We initiated a systematic review to determine the impact of the SARS-COV-2 virus and its long-term effects-in both symptomatic and asymptomatic cases-on people with or without psychosis. We envisioned that this would give us an insight into effective clinical intervention methods for patients with psychosis during and after the pandemic. Method(s): We selected fifteen papers that met our inclusion criteria, i.e., those that considered participants with or without psychiatric illness and exposed to SARS-COV-2 infection, for this review and were retrieved via Google, Google Scholar, MEDLINE, PubMed, and PsychINFO Database. Key Gap: There is a dearth of research in understanding how COVID-19 affects people with or without a prior personal history of psychosis. Result(s): The systematic review summary provides insight into the state of knowledge. Insights from the systematic review have also been reviewed from the salutogenesis model's perspec-tive. There is moderate evidence of new-onset psychosis during the COVID-19 pandemic in which some antipsychotics treated the psychotic symptoms of patients while treating for COVID-19. Suggestions and recommendations are made for preventive and promotive public health strategies. Conclusion(s): The Salutogenesis model and Positive Psychology Interventions (PPI) provide another preventive and promotive public health management approach.Copyright © 2023 Bentham Science Publishers.

Service provision in form of family support services, such as the early childhood intervention networks, has also been affected by the pandemic and the measures that have been taken. ABSTRACT

IMMUNION (Improving IMMunisation cooperation in the European UNION) is a European project having the objective to support vaccine strategies. The project (active from April 2021 to March 2023) has contributed to improve knowledge on vaccines and vaccinations among health professionals and the information circulation in different target groups, through a multistakeholder collaboration including institutions, associations and media. The IMMUNION consortium has been focusing on activities of survey, professional training and communication, even with the aim to sustain visibility and role of the Coalition for Vaccination. In particular, ISS has coordinated the Work Package on finalising vaccine communication tools to increase vaccination compliance in target communities.

ABSTRACT

Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has had an immense impact on psychic health. Children and adolescents are considered especially vulnerable which is why health promotion and prevention programs are important and should be designed in a motivating way to be attractive to this age group. The aim of this work is to investigate whether young people can be reached with the help of innovative digital formats for health promotion. Methods: An app-based training to promote self-regulation was offered to adolescents in lower secondary education in autumn 2020. Data were collected using an app. The types of motivation to participate in the training were analyzed. In addition, the students were able to rate the attractiveness of the training with the help of a self-designed evaluation sheet. Results: Of the 91 registered participants, 39.56% completed the study. In all, 40.91% of the students stated that the training was "very" helpful and 36.36% rated it as "quite" helpful. Although 50% of the respondents found the app-based training "modern and motivating", the other half would have preferred more personal support. Conclusion: The results confirm previous study results with health apps in children and adolescents. This age group is interested in digital formats, but health apps are not used continuously in this age group unless obligatory.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic created disruptions in HIV testing service utilization among men who have sex with men (MSM). The present study was to evaluate the effectiveness of an online health promotion program implemented by a community-based organization (CBO) in increasing the uptake of any type of HIV testing and home-based HIV self-testing (HIVST) over a six-month follow-up period. Participants of an observational prospective cohort study conducted during the same period served as the comparison group. This study was conducted between September 2020 and December 2021. Participants were Chinese-speaking adult MSM who were HIV-negative/unknown sero-status recruited through multiple sources in Hong Kong, China. Participants in the intervention group were exposed to the following health promotion components: (1) viewing an online video promoting HIVST, (2) visiting the project webpage, and (3) having access to a chargeable HIVST service implemented by the CBO. Among 400 and 412 participants in the intervention group and the comparison group, 349 (87.3%) and 298 (72.3%) completed follow-up evaluation at Month 6. Multiple imputation was used to replace missing values. At Month 6, participants in the intervention group reported significantly higher uptake of any type of HIV testing (57.0% versus 49.0%, adjusted odds ratios [AOR]: 1.43, p = .03) and HIVST (25.8% versus 14.8%, AOR: 2.04, p = .001), as compared to those in the comparison group. Process evaluation of the health promotion components for the intervention group was positive. Promoting HIVST is a potentially useful strategy to increase HIV testing service utilization among Chinese MSM during the pandemic.
